Legend has it...
During the "Roaring 1920s", the bar now known as Bullwinkle’s was built and established at 14th and Tennessee. With its close proximity to campus, it quickly became a popular pub with KU students, faculty, and locals. As ownership changed hands in the 1960s, the pub became known as "Bierstube" - German for "beer hall" or "pub that specializes in beer". Bierstube continued the rich tradition of serving their loyal KU clientele for nearly two decades. Finally in early 1980, Bierstube became Bullwinkle’s or as many students refer to it today as "The Bull".
The owners of Bullwinkle’s are proud to continue the rich tradition of serving the coldest beer in Lawrence to our loyal customers. Come join us and help carry THE BULL tradition on into the next century!
